ABOUT

Jake Hurtt founded Hurtt Fabricating Corp. in a St. Louis suburb in 1966 to build sign posts and overhead structures for the local market. The following year, Hurtt Fabricating strategically located to Marceline, Missouri, a small railway town located in north central Missouri. The company set up shop, renovating an old Sinclair Pumping Station into a modern fabrication facility.

One of the first overhead structure fabricators, Hurtt Fabricating began collaborating on projects for state departments of transportation across the country. Soon thereafter, Jake’s son, Robert Hurtt, a licensed professional engineer and graduate of University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science & Technology), joined the company as principal engineer. The company achieved tremendous growth under the leadership of Robert, who became president in 1987.

In 2016, the company’s 50th year in business, Hurtt Fabricating began an ESOP, making it an employee-owned company. Today, the company’s mark on America’s highways is seen in roadway structures of distinguished workmanship from coast to coast.
